Ed enjoys the fruits of his labor at a local art show

About

Edwin Forrest was born in San Francisco in June of 1945 and was raised in Los Altos, CA. While studying at the Universities of Oregon and Santa Clara, he dabbled in the arts by taking some undergraduate art classes. Married and a father, Ed started working in the construction management business. After 5 years, he started his own company and became a general contractor in Sacramento, CA. These construction projects led to his interest in the restoration business working with stone, marble and tile. Forrest Restoration Company was born out of this interest. His marble restoration projects further developed his natural artistic skills, and helped him to develop a keen eye for color and texture.

After retirement, with a creative itch to scratch, Ed started taking oil painting classes at Sacramento City College under Professor Chris Daubert. during these classes and with the praise of Professor Daubert, Ed has found his passion in oil painting. Hi style is referred to as “Hard Edge Nonrepresentational,” but he calls it his “hard edge obsession.”

When asked to describe his art, Forrest replies:

“My paintings strive to create a rhythm with the shapes. Creating a uniqe, pleasing and memorable mixture of colors, shapes and textures in all my oil paints remains my goal for each of them.”

After years of experimentation, Forrest has made a name for himself in the Sacramento art scene. His work has been showcased in Galleries such as Beatnik Studios, The E Street Gallery, and the Be Cool Club.
